Whether you’re just starting out with the Law of Attraction, or you’ve been practicing LOA for a while, it’s always a wonderful idea to have a list of surefire ways to help you raise your vibration.

Thanks to Cardin at OptimistLab who started the High Vibe Game and who tagged me to play - it’s a great idea for a post, and a great way for me to share with you my five favorite ways of raising my vibe.

1. Take a nap.

I like to sleep, and so, as you might guess, I also like to nap. I’ve found that when I’m feeling overwhelmed or frustrated, one of the best things I can do is lie down somewhere comfortable and sleep.

Why does sleep feel so good? According to Abraham-Hicks:

“When you sleep you withdraw your consciousness, so you deactivate the vibrations that were keeping you wherever they were keeping you. … Your optimum experience is to be awake and exhilarated. Your next optimum experience is to be asleep. Your least optimum experience is to be awake and worried, or fearful about something.”

2. Go to a bookstore or the library or Amazon.

I’m crazy about books, and there’s nothing like being in a huge place, surrounded on all sides by shelves and shelves of books.

I find both bookstores and libraries to be very soothing places. I normally head over to the local bookstore when I’m feeling in need of a lift, but the library will do in a pinch. (And that’s because I like to buy books, not just read them.)

And if, for any reason, I can’t make it out to the bookstore or the library, Amazon works almost as well. Almost. There’s still nothing better than actually being able to touch and feel and hold and flip through an enticing book.

3. Watch my children play or “do their thing”.

I have a preschooler and two young teenagers, and nothing makes me smile as easily as they can. They each have their own special gifts, and often they are so in tune to how I’m feeling that they seem to always know just the right thing to say or do that will make me feel better.

My preschooler is cute and adorable, and his big gap-toothed smile (especially when he does his “big cheeks, mommy, look at my big cheeks!” trick) lifts me up tremendously.

I also have very close relationships with both of my two older children, and while they’re past the “cute little kids” stage, they’re likely to do things like give me a surprise hug as they walk by. And when I sit with them and listen to them as they talk and joke, I see the wonderful adults they are becoming, and it never fails to fill my heart with such appreciation.

4. Paint or draw or make something with my hands.

My favorite art media are oil pastels, chalk pastels, drawing charcoal and clay. I don’t get a chance to make art that often, but when I’m feeling a little bit off center, there’s nothing like making vibrant marks on paper or feeling the cool softness of the clay beneath my hands.

I also can’t resist a good children’s art set. I have a stash of them in the closet. I started collecting them because they make such good birthday gifts for those days when one of my kids would pull out a bedraggled invitation and say, “Oh, I forgot. Suzie’s birthday party is at 3:00. Can I go?”

Eventually, though, they got too old to give these art gifts to friends as gifts - they much prefer shopping for the gifts themselves, or, in the case of my older son, giving money or gift certificates. So there I was, with this fairly large stash of art kits in my closet.

And one day, I gave in to temptation and opened one up. I still remember that kit. Papier mache masks. I had a whole lot of messy fun that day, and these days, just thinking about spending an hour or so messing around with one of these can easily get me to a better feeling place.

5. Do my morning pages.

Three days ago, Nneka at Balanced Life Center re-introduced “morning pages” (from Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way) into my life.

I had had a daily practice of doing morning pages for close to ten years, but about 18 months ago, I stopped doing them. I can’t remember exactly why I stopped, except that they didn’t seem to feel the same to me anymore.

But because of Nneka, three days ago, I took out a brand new notebook, and began writing my morning pages again.

Since starting them again, I have found that they have evolved a lot from what they were for me before - but their uplifting ability has not changed. After I write in my morning pages, I always feel better than when I started.

I’m pretty flexible with my morning pages and have, in the past, done them at any time of the day. Whenever they were needed. They work for me.

Raising My Vibe

These are five of my favorite ways of raising my vibe. I have a lot more things on my list, though, because I’ve discovered that different things work at different times.

I’m looking forward to reading what others have to write about their favorite ways of raising their vibe.
